The Hayloft
The Hayloft
- Location/Description: The Hayloft is a converted hayloft in a recently Heritage-Designated barn.
- Purpose:It serves as a venue for concerts, weddings, anniversaries, and similar events, and acts as a fundraising arm for Gamiing Nature Centre.
- Origin: The Hayloft's creation was serendipitous. A rainy outdoor concert led to the impromptu clearing and furnishing of the hayloft as an alternative venue. The acoustics were excellent, and the rest is history.
- Growth: The Hayloft quickly gained popularity, becoming a favoured spot for local musicians and expanding to host various events.
- Setbacks: The pandemic forced a closure, and a serious accident in 2023 further delayed its reopening. Operations resumed in the fall of 2024, but the Hayloft closed again for the 2024-2025 winter season for assessment and planning.
Overall Description: The Hayloft Restoration Project (ongoing) aims to transform the historic Hayloft into a year-round venue for concerts, weddings, and other events, enhancing its role as a fundraising arm for Gamiing Nature Centre. This project builds upon the Hayloft’s existing success as a seasonal venue and addresses key limitations to expand its usability. The project is incremental, enhancing existing activities by extending the operational season.
